In the final days before the 2012 election MoveOn unveiled its “Vote Score” technology, allowing members to see how their attendance at the polls stacked up against others in their community. To announce the project, Art Not War created a video featuring real MoveOn members recounting their “first time” with an American Presidential candidate. The best part? They still respected their votes in the morning.

In the final months of 2012, Fair Elections for New York called on Art Not War to create a message in support of Governor Cuomo’s initiative for public financing. Sam Waterston (Law & Order, The Newsroom) came to our studio to record this spot, encouraging voters to support candidates who promise to empower democracy by getting corporate money out of politics. Our piece was covered by the New York Times, Huffington Post, and Albany Times Union.

Georgia Congressman John Lewis is a legend of the civil rights movement. In the 1960s, he led the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and marched with Rev. Martin Luther King. Today, he remains a tireless advocate for democracy and human rights. Art Not War had the honor of meeting Rep. Lewis in person at his office in Atlanta, where we recorded this message to inspire volunteers for MoveOn’s Voters Rising program.
